World Bank Flagship Global Core Course on Health Sector Reform and Sustainable Financing
|
In 2006, Dennis Ross-Degnan and Anita Wagner, working with colleagues at the World Bank, developed and
taught a two-day module on medicines policy issues as part of the 2-week long Flagship Course of the
World Bank Institute. The audience included key health sector policy makers from more than 20 countries
and representatives of international aid organizations. The pharmaceutical module consisted of presentations,
case studies, and group discussions on the role of medicines in health care systems; pharmaceutical sector market
forces; and regulatory, behavioral, and economic interventions to improve access to and use of medicines.
The World Bank Institute supported the development of the module on pharmaceuticals. Case studies and slides
from the sessions of the course on pharmaceutical policy interventions can be found at URL.
